If you hear a buzz anywhere near the water in San Diego, it’s likely coming from the cool oceanfront lounge; JRDN at TOWER23 Hotel.  There’s something really personal happening behind the doors of this hip boutique property inspired by Lifeguard Tower #23 on Pacific Beach.  I recently checked-in to experience the hotel for our Fashion & Design Collide Photo Event.  A collaboration between Hotelements, TOWER23, the creative team at Orange County/San Diego Style Report and Stelle Audio.

What I discovered was a laid-back, intimate, barefoot luxury kinda vibe with impeccable service around every corner…with my favorite corner by the open air glass bar and lounge just steps from the sand.  And 9 year veteran bartender; Armando Garcia was happy to help me belly up for their signature cocktail, The Chili Mango Margarita.  That combined with their steamed mussels and garlic bread was the perfect combo.  So what happens when you combine the design of a modern boutique hotel with fashion, California cuisine and signature cocktails?   You get great design inspiration, fashion tips  and a spot for your next getaway weekend… that’s what happens. Happy Valentines Day! ~ xo Paula

Design & Inspiration

They say all good ideas are born on napkins. After all, that’s how the concept of Hotelements was born. So when I heard the Architect behind TOWER23, the late, Graham Downes was known for his ability to sketch anything on a napkin, I was in.  His desire to infuse ‘fun’ into his hospitality projects was obvious by the design of the ‘wave wall’ in the dining room.  Whether back-lit, or left white, this modern wall art application reminds you the ocean is just steps away. The overall design is modern, minimal, textural, playful and sleek allowing the surf, sky and spirit to play center stage.

The Vision for ‘Fashion & Design Collide

To showcase how interiors and fashion can influence how we feel about a space.  Both evoke an emotional connection and when layered together, well, it’s just sexy.  This modern, California chic hotel was the perfect setting for pairing colors, prints and patterns against a simple, minimal, organically designed space.  Oh, and did I mention its’ Valentine’s Day?
